What's up party people!

Just a quick note to let you all know I'm thinking about you and I'm not dead. Oh NO! I'm still paying the bills around here, so that'll let you know there's still more to do. I have some new boogaloo stuff on my blog but I'll bring it over here too.

Holla at your dude!

WE'RE! STILL! HERE!

Hey. Just dropping by to let you know I'm still around. I'm working behind the scenes to try and stretch the site out to I can use it inbetween the boogaloo drops, so nobody misses out on the good detective.

STAY INVOLVED!

Hey.

I'm still around - just look for me in other places right now!

As of right now (as you may have guessed) the webcomic is on the hiatus thing, but I have some great stuff coming up the pike.

ALSO! You can see the printed full-color re-ups of the strip every other month in the new UVC (URBAN VOICE OF COMICS) magazine - the anti-Wizard mag devoted to minorities in comics!

Actually, kind of cool, I'm all over this latest issue.

So there. Holla at the kid.

Come see Jamar at WIZARD WORLD PHILLY 6/15 - 6/17!

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2007-06-12 @ 08:21:04

It's that time again, but this time, I'll be back behind the table where I'm supposed to be. But only for 3 days - they can't oppress me!

I'll be down in my hometown, the place where you don't look up - lest you get knocked down, that rough and tumble burg, Philadelphia, PA, for Wizard World Philadelphia.

I'll be in the Artist Alley section, table 1509 (Write that down - because every time I hear somebody say 'Dude, I couldn't find you!' Well here I am.)

I'll be bringing along some stuff from the vault, namely Detective Boogaloo Casefiles, Original Art, Copies of my Philadelphia Cartoonist Society Anthologies, and possibly some Grosse Adventures books, and some surprises! You're just gonna have to come through and find out what they are.

Can't wait to see you! Maybe we'll head out for a steak afterwords.
And yo, don't embarrass me! Remember: "Fries next window"

happy birthday to your man jamar!

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2007-03-18 @ 13:58:57

I know that's kinda lame to Big Up myself, but now you know, and can mark it down on your calendars.

As you all know, it's been few and far between on updates, but I want you all to know that Detective Boogaloo dot Com and the strip is not 'DEAD' like you may think, or what your mans' an them may have said - this is too big for that. Just keep riding with me, and soon enough, we'll be sitting pretty.

To go along with the birthday theme, I wanted to share an art 'birthday card' from one of my best pals in the comic and regular world, MIKE WIERINGO. If you follow comic books, then you know this man's name - he needs no introduction. Mike's a sweetheart and sent me this via email Sunday morning, and I can't keep this to myself. Click on the dossier folder and see the whole thing.

So stay on board, ya'll. I got a lot of things going on behind the scenes, and thanks again to you all that came to see me at the NEW YORK COMIC CON! I got a nice piece of boogaloo news to share from there soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

2007: THE RE-UP

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2006-12-03 @ 22:49:13

Hey ya'll - it's been a while. Sorry about that. Just letting you know that we're still here, just rebooting a little bit. I am making a promise that the new year will be the best and brightest for the strip, and Detective Boogaloo as well - I've been working behind the scenes to get some scheduling together so that I can drop updates on you on the regular. Today I'm back on my Monday Grind with a new RAP PIONEER card, and more comic strips are on their way! So for the time being, I am going to lay in some story flavor, and then in January, we get back on the track with the comics. Enjoy, and keep checking back, because WE AIN'T GOING NOWHERE.

RAP IS OUTTA CONTROL. . .

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2006-10-05 @ 18:08:12

So I just saw this image of BROOKE HOGAN, Hulk Hogan's daughter, with a iced-out 'grill' and beyond her looking silly, it just shows how much this rap ish is slipping away from us, and SOMEBODY'S gotta regain control before it's too late.

Also,as I was sinking into my old-man funk, I started thinking about the CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP dance which is pretty bad in it's own right, I can't front - is about 40-steps past the Biz Markie. I'm just mad at the music. Kids gotta dance.

These doods on myspace hit me up to their new album called LAFFY TAFFY ROTS YOUR TEETH, by Free Speech and Ro Blvd. They remind me of LITTLE BROTHER, and they're sick of this minstrel music too.

What are YOU doing for hip-hop? I'm sure you never think about it like that, but before you put your too-large fitted on with your matching wristbands, take a second to google MELLE MEL and BAMBATTA and read up on that.

Before you steal (download) the new Chicken & Biscuits CD (I just made that up, so now you're gonna have to see it in the strip) go ask somebody over 30 about Hip-Hop and what it means to them.

Do something. I'm planning on doing my part. Do something.

DO The robot to headspin to boogaloo. . .

Yo. Here's an ill pin up from my man and comic pal from back in the wayback, Mike Hawthorne. You may know Hawthorne from HYSTERIA, Marvel's MACHINE TEEN, Oni's QUEEN & COUNTRY, and on and on and on. Mike's a machine, and one of the nicest comic doods I have the pleasure of knowing.

Enjoy the pinup art - wer'e almost back on track! Lunchticket Tuesday is where you'll see pinuppy stuff in the future, so make a note and look for the union label!

What's up ya'll. Just to let you know that I know that you've been looking for the rest of this new Boogaloo arc, and I fell face-first into some huge freelance work, and it's thrown me off my grizzle. I'll tell you all about the freelance when it's time (and where you can go cop it) but between that and teaching and everything else, I had to push Boogs back. I'll be done with this assignment in like two more weeks, give or take, so I'm going to be hitting you off with some guest art, strips, what have you until I'm back on the grind.

This Guest art is from my man NEAL VON FLUE, art impressario, and also a great pal of mine. He did some ol' painterly ish with this, and I love this like I love my seeds.

Well, I don't have any seeds, but it's the same feeling. Go see Neal over on ape-law.com where he holds it down.

Love to hear from you - hit me up. just click on 'CONTACT' and get that going. OH! and while you're at it, go friend Boogaloo on the myspace jawn we hooked up.

I MISS YOU!

Brothers Gonna Work it Out

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2006-08-24 @ 18:24:14

What's going on.

So, we've had some dips and dabs in the updates, and that has a lot to do with a hailstorm of freelance I got hit with lately, that's currently nailing me up against the wall. I'm making steps to make sure that Boogs stays up and current - I don't wanna make the readers have to sit on the sidelines, so by hook or crook, I'm gonna get you SOMETHING every week, and that's word.

Here's a little something something test I did, using a technique I learned from my man Adam Koford over at adamkoford.com. Kinda neat!

Anyways, Until early - LATE. Remember to check the COMMUNITY and come leave a message on the JNN or drop me an email and let me know what's really good.

NEW STUFF UP!

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2006-08-06 @ 21:45:03

What's Good Cousin.

As we crawl through the dog days of summer, you'll watch me try to slowly iron out the snags in this whole webcomic project. The biggest notable thing coming is that I'm gearing up to make the strip updates 3 times a week. That's right, a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule. This takes a lot of followthrough and scheduling to keep everything running smoothly, so I'm going to do my best to get there. I hope you keep watching while it unravels!

Today is another PIONEER card. The new comic will be following behind this one this week. BE EASY.

What's Haps

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2006-08-01 @ 21:53:50

So yeah, my back knocked me flat for more than a few days, but I feel 83% better than I did last week. That means that I can get back on my grizzly and get some strippage up. Look for something real soon, like later today.

Thanks for all the support some of ya'll have been showing lately - it makes a world of difference, and also it helps to know that you're out there checking the site out. And if you didn't tell me then how would I know.

If you ever wanna get at me, drop me an email or go register at the JNN, the Jamar Nicholas Network, and say something. It's all about the community here. Let's be all we can be.

Until the 12th of Never,

Jamar

LUNCHTICKET FRIDAY came early

posted by Jamar Nicholas on 2006-07-17 @ 21:03:45

Heyyo.

So, I did a little switcheroo. Look for the comic for today up later this week, at the worst Friday, and I put up this weeks LUNCHTICKET FRIDAY post: Another RAP PIONEER card. Trade 'em with your friends!

This heat was unbearable, and needless to say the heatwave continues. Look for more from me during the week, and feel free to visit my forum (Go to the top of the page and click on COMMUNITY) and say what's up.

That's what's Up.
